Seafood production in 2023 will face many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid 19 epidemic, causing input material prices to remain high, commercial product prices decreasing compared to the average of many years, and the water level of the Da River in many sections falling, causing affecting cage fish farming activities... However, with the close attention and direction of sectors and levels and the people's efforts to overcome difficulties, seafood production in 2023 has achieved important results.
The total aquaculture area in 2023 will reach 10,925 hectares (down 275 hectares compared to 2022), reaching 103.5% of the plan (plan: 10,560 hectares); of which: Intensive farming area reaches 2,560 hectares, semi-intensive farming area reaches 3,050 hectares; Reservoir farming, 1-crop field 5,315 ha (large water surface 2,000 ha, 1-crop field 3,315 ha); The total number of cages on rivers and reservoirs reaches 1,664 cages (down 198 cages compared to 2022), reaching 89.2% of the plan (plan of 1,865 cages). Total aquatic product output reaches 44.9 thousand tons, an increase of 3.9% (+1.7 thousand tons) compared to 2022. Of which: Aquaculture output is estimated to reach 42.1 thousand tons, an increase of 3.8 % (+1.6 thousand tons); Fishery output is estimated at 2.8 thousand tons, an increase of 3.9%. Farming output tends to increase mainly due to expanding the farming area of aquatic products with high economic value for production (such as: field catfish, grass carp, sturgeon, V1 hybrid carp, lentil fish,...) . The proportion of specialty fish breeds and high-yield and high-quality fish breeds put into farming accounts for 60% of the farming breed structure.
- Regarding aquatic breeds, through monitoring and understanding the situation of the Department of Fisheries in Phu Tho province, there are currently 4 establishments producing breeds, supplying fry, fry, and fingerlings with a scale of (10.9 ha); 02 craft villages, 01 enterprise, 2 cooperatives and 10 concentrated breeding nurseries with a scale of 225.2 hectares with over 600 breeding households. The whole province has produced an estimated 1,628 million fry, fry, and fingerlings of all kinds, reaching 101.8% of the plan (plan of 1,600 million fish). In the province, there are currently 03 establishments that have been granted certificates of eligibility to produce and nurture aquatic breeds; Craft villages and households in concentrated aquatic breed nurseries have been propagated and guided with documents and procedures to register for certification. Updated the database on aquatic breeds on the national aquatic database software system according to regulations.
- Regarding the management of production and business activities of aquatic feed and environmental treatment products in aquaculture: In the province, there are 02 enterprises producing supplementary feed and environmental treatment products in aquaculture. Aquaculture; Officials of the Fisheries Department regularly monitor and understand the production and business situation of 34 aquatic food businesses and 05 businesses of environmental treatment products in aquaculture in the area.
- Regarding the protection and development of aquatic resources, the Department of Fisheries coordinated with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Phu Tho province to organize a stocking ceremony to regenerate and develop aquatic resources on Ao Chau lake, Ha Hoa district. During the year, the Branch closely coordinated with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Buddhist Sangha to supervise the release of aquatic animals in the area in association with major holidays of the year: Full moon day of the month of Rieng, Buddha's birthday, Full moon in July,….; The total number of varieties released into natural lakes and lagoons in the area is estimated at over 0.2 million varieties of all kinds; There are no subjects prohibited from releasing animals according to regulations.
- Regarding information, propaganda and fishery extension work: 33 reports and columns have been created on Phu Tho Radio and Television Station, reaching 165% of the plan (Plan 20); 23 news and articles in newspapers, magazines, and websites reached 150% of the plan (plan 15). Actively propagate and replicate models of raising indigenous species and varieties with economic value such as: Banana fish farming model, field catfish farming model, field loach farming model, eggplant farming model. stalks, models of raising field frogs, field eels, expanding and expanding commercial sturgeon farming along the value chain associated with tourism....initially people were interested in visiting, studying and applying for development. economic development.
To ensure the completion of the target of the 2024 aquatic production plan: The total area of aquaculture in the province in 2024 will reach 10,800 hectares, the total number of intensive farming cages will reach 1,600; Total seafood output reaches 45,600 tons, the growth rate of the fisheries sector is over 4.0% compared to 2023; In the coming time, the Department of Fisheries will continue to coordinate closely with units in the industry and localities in the province to continue to well implement the work of advising and directing production organization according to the issued plan, contributing part in successfully implementing the province's goals of developing agriculture, forestry, fisheries and building new rural areas.
