Since 2017, the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center has implemented the model "Raising meat-oriented goats" with a scale of more than 400 goats in Thuong Long, Phuc Khanh, Ngoc Lap communes, Yen Lap district; Tat Thang, Huong Can, Cu Thang, Cu Dong communes of Thanh Son district. After more than 2 years of implementing the model, the goat herd has adapted to local living conditions, grown and developed well, especially in Tat Thang and Cu Dong communes, Thanh Son district and Phuc Khanh, Ngoc. Mr. Dinh Xuan Nam's household in Dong Nghia area, Cu Dong commune, Thanh Son district, is one of 4 households in the commune participating in the model of raising meat-oriented goats with a scale of 10 goats/household. In particular, the program supports 8 children/household and each participating household matches 2 children. All households are trained in animal husbandry techniques, prevention and treatment of goat diseases, typically such as pox, diarrhea, scabies... Due to being suitable for local actual conditions, there is a large grazing area and natural resources. There is abundant available food and careful care. Up to now, the goat herds in all households are growing and developing well, with high selling prices. Seeing the economic efficiency, many households inside and outside the commune have come to study and expand their goat herds. In particular, there are households whose goat herds have grown to 40-50 goats. More and more households in the commune want to participate in the model...

To date, the meat-oriented goat breeding model in 2 districts has had 350 female goats giving birth to 680 baby goats. With an average selling price of 150,000 VND/kg, the average weight when sold is over 20kg/head. After deducting costs, the profit is over 700,000 VND/fish. The model has exploited local strengths such as labor resources, large land, and available natural food. Seeing the effectiveness of the model model, many other farmers have learned, followed and replicated it. In addition, the revenue from the model has contributed to creating opportunities to help mountain people have conditions to expand production development, increase income, and stabilize their lives.
